6th Annual Kickoff Classic

All OSU Talent Search participants were invited to bring their family members and friends to the Oklahoma State University campus in Stillwater on Saturday, August 22 to join us for what is becoming one of our favorite traditions! The day included an inspirational keynote speaker (outstanding current OSU Mechanical Engineering student DJ Lamkin), lots of information about financial aid, resources from several area universities & colleges, fabulous door prizes, and a tour of some of the OSU facilities. We had a record turnout for this event and we appreciate all of the support from Oklahoma State University, the Division of Institutional Diversity, and the Stillwater community for helping to make this day possible. And most importantly...we thank the students and their families for making this such an amazing event!

Summer Activities

Thanks for another amazing summer full of great experiences and some incredible memories! We'll definitely have some stories to tell throughout the school year. Our summer adventures fell into the following three categories: Planner Rewards Trips, 8th Grade Transitions, and Campus Tours. Details are highlighted below...

Planner Rewards Trips

Students had to earn their eligibility for this trip by being organized throughout the school year and keeping up with their planners. We first took a tour of the Oklahoma History Center in OKC. Next we explored the outdoor symbolic memorial at the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum. We concluded the evening by attending an Oklahoma Redhawks baseball game in Bricktown.

8th Grade Transitions (Challenge Course)

Our rising-9th grade students joined us for a day at the Challenge Course at Camp Redlands (near Stillwater). They took part in many experiential games and problem-solving activities before completing the high elements.

Past Events:

TRiO Day 2009!

On February 25 more than 900 students from across Oklahoma converged on the State Capitol to celebrate TRiO Day. There was an official proclamation from Governor Brad Henry, presented by Secretary of State Susan Savage. Then we were addressed by several state leaders, such as Lt. Governor Jari Askins, Senator Kenneth Corn, Senator Constance Johnson, Representative Lisa Billy, Representative T. W. Shannon, Representative Mike Shelton, and many others. In conjunction with the events inside the capitol, students worked with Blue Star Mothers of Oklahoma on a service project to provide supplies to fill "Freedom Boxes" that were shipped overseas to our military service people. OSU ETS was represented by students from Bristow, Cushing, and Drumright high schools. To wrap up the day's events, we toured the Oklahoma Governor's mansion before heading home. TRiO Day was covered as a leading story on Channel 9 News!!! Check out the clip here.
