"Summer Trips 2008!"

Our summer trips have now concluded. Thanks for another amazing summer full of great experiences and some incredible memories that will last a lifetime! We'll definitely have some stories to tell when we get back to school... (But enough about school for now...keep enjoying your summer!)

Planner Rewards Trips

Students had to earn their eligibility for this trip by being organized throughout the school year and keeping up with their planners. We first were given tours of the Trauma 1 Center & MediFlight facilities at the OU Medical Center in OKC. Next we explored the outdoor symbolic memorial at the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum. We concluded the evening by attending an Oklahoma Redhawks baseball game in Bricktown.

8th Grade Transitions (Challenge Course)

Our rising-9th grade students joined us for a day at the Challenge Course at Camp Redlands (near Stillwater). They took part in many experiential games and problem-solving activities before completing the high elements.

Campus Tours

This summer we got to tour the University of Oklahoma & the OU Health Sciences Center (Billings & Blackwell high schools), the University of Tulsa & Rogers State University (Bristow, Drumright, & Olive high schools), and the University of Central Oklahoma & Oklahoma City University (Cushing, Glencoe, & Morrison high schools).

"Campaign for 1,000 Books"

For TRiO Day this year, the OSU Educational Talent Search joined forces with the Emerging Leader's Institute in an effort to collect children's books. All books were donated to Oklahoma's SoonerStart program to be distributed throughout the state to the families of greatest need. We are happy to announce that it was a huge success! Our goal was to collect 1,000 books. At the end of the day we had collected well over 2,000. Thank you to everyone who helped us out! We definitely couldn't have done it without you!

A special Thank You goes out to the students of Drumright High School, numerous TRiO programs around the state, and the Emerging Leaders Class of 2008. Job well done!
